UNESCO Holds Masterclasses for Local Radio Stations in Bangladesh

Community Radio Makes a Difference

As reported by indiaeducationdiary.com, in mid December, community radio stations in Bangladesh took online masterclasses to better serve the public.  The classes were put on by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) with a focus on social media and COVID-19 response.

In the five day program, students focused on many topics, including production of radio content with smart phones, giving updates, verifying information, and preventing the spread of misinformation.

Those who participated were welcomed to the program by Ms. Beatrice Kaldun, Head of Office and UNESCO Representative to Bangladesh and Prof. Vinod Pavarala, Senior Professor of Communication and UNESCO Chair on Community Media at University of Hyderabad.
