WEOS
Public Radio from Hobart and William Smith Colleges
WEOS is a non-commercial, public radio station licensed
to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, NY, broadcasting at 89.7 MHz,
with a power output of 4000 watts. We broadcast from studios located in
Geneva, and our transmitter is located in town of Gorham on Lake to Lake Road.
WEOS also broadcast at 90.3 MHz from a translator, W212BA, located on Winn Seeley
Gym on the campus.
WEOS broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our signal covers
an area from west of Canandaigua to the Western suburbs of Syracuse, from Lake
Ontario to Ithaca. Depending on your radio and antenna, the lay of the land,
and your distance away, reception can be less or greater than the above coverage
area. In addition, for our listeners that have access to the Ithaca cable system,
Time Warner Cable, WEOS can be heard on their FM service at 98.9FM. WEOS also
broadcasts at 88.1FM in Ithaca, from Translator station W201CD.
Our programming features a selection of news, music, sports, public
affairs, and other programs of both a local and national interest. We
also air modern rock, folk, jazz, world, blues, reggae, rap, R&B, gospel,
and latin music. WEOS tries to present music and programs that are not always
available on other stations in the area. In addition, WEOS provides a local
source of area events coverage, including live local concerts, speakers, debates,
and news. Most of our live local programming is during the evenings and on weekends.
WEOS is also a member of National Public Radio, NPR, and Public Radio International, PRI.
WEOS is operated by staff of the Colleges, and a larger contingent
of student and community volunteers. We are always looking for volunteer
staff members. |
