JOURNEY RADIO
Internet Radio
The Journey is a 24 hour Internet radio station broadcasting from St. Louis, Missouri. We are vastly different from the "typical" commercial or non-commercial Christian radio station. In addition to Christian music and arts programming, we offer progressive radio programming not offered on most "Christian "stations. We are the Christian radio voice for those people of faith who are not represented by the "Christian Right" that so permeate our airwaves (and Internet stations).
Our news and feature programming is provided by networks known for their progressive outlook and focus on social justice, equality, and human dignity. Because we are not the "typical" Christian fundamentalist station, we have affiliated with Pacifica and two other networks which traditionally serve "terrestrial" broadcast stations: One World Radio Network and The Interworld Radio Network.
Like Pacifica, these other two networks are noted for their progressive voices in reporting and feature reporting. Both provide a progressive global perspective not offered by mainstream media outlets in the U.S. -- and, like Pacifica, neither are usually found on "traditional" Christian stations.
Our "teaching programs", i.e. Bible Study / Religious Discussion programs focus on practical applications of Christian living for today rather than useless piety promising Heaven tomorrow. We hope that these programs equip listeners in a real way that will make an honest, blunt impact in their lives today: in their interpersonal relationships and in the decisions that they make which effect their neighborhoods, counties, cities, regions and the world.
We believe that "Christianity is not about RULES nor is it just about singing praise songs and feeling good...it's about LIVING," therefore we present an alternative to the xenophobic, homophobic, judgmental programming generally found in Christian radio today.
We believe in the credo of liberal Congregationalism, "faith, freedom and fellowship". In our music programs, we hope to inspire, uplift and edify. We don't want to tell people what to believe, but to provide resources for them to make informed decisions in their personal journeys.
